Gates Family Foundation

Founded in 1946 by Charles, John and Hazel Gates, the Gates Family Foundation has served as the family's philanthropic arm investing in worthy projects across the state of Colorado. Its current interests range from historic preservation to art and culture and education reform; from land conservation to rural economic development; and to projects that enhance self-sufficiency, health, free enterprise and sustainable communities. The Gates Planetarium, the IMAX Theater at the Denver Museum of Natural Science, Denver School of Science and Technology, and the Platte Greenway bike system are among the hundreds of projects funded in part by the Foundation. The Foundation has given more than $250 million in grants, enhancing the lives of Colorado citizens.
