Lanny joined the GCP Board of Managers in 2011. He began his career at the Kirkland & Ellis law firm where he worked for 14 years, serving on its management and executive committees. Lanny then became CEO of several related NYSE listed companies during the next 18 years, including NL Industries (chemicals), Titanium Metals Corporation and Baroid Corporation (oil field services). In 2005 Lanny founded Platte River Ventures, a private equity firm investing in small to mid-cap companies in aerospace, industrial services, metals, chemicals, agricultural and other market segments. Lanny is the current or former lead director of four NYSE companies: Apartment Investment Management Company, Crown Castle International Inc. (cell towers), Intrepid Potash Inc., and Halliburton Company. Lanny has long been involved in the community and currently serves as Chairman of the Denver Art Museum; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northwestern University, and Chairman Emeritus of Central City Opera House Association. Lanny earned his B.S.B.A. in Economics and J.D. at Northwestern University. He also served in the U.S. Army.
